The table below shows the changes of the percentage of visitors in 8 great countries that most international tourists visited in 2009 and 2010.

【内容思路】

* 数据加工:找出某种规律作为内容的“底层思路”。本文的思路是:三组很明晰:1、增长的(有多有少);2、下降的;3、没变的。

* 尤其值得注意的是*:虽然题目中给出了2009和2010年两个年份,但是【比较】仅存在于【国家之间】,并不存在于年份之间。为什么呢?因为表格中的数字是两个年份的差值,而不是分别列出了两个年份的数字。

# Introduction

In the table is thestatistical presentation (in percentage terms) of the changed popularity of 8 Great Countries with visitors between 2009 and 2010.

* 下划线部分是倒装形式,注意动词的单复数由后面的内容(被倒置的主语)的单复数决定。

* statistical presentation 意为“数据形式的呈现”。

* in percentage terms 意为“以百分比的方式”。

 

# Body

Except in the UK, where there were 4 percent fewer visitors in 2010, and France, whose number of visitors stayed unchanged, there is either a surge or a marginal increase of popularity in the Great Countries. Germany stood out, as its popularity shot up by more than 10 percent. Following Germany closely, the US and China were the other two obviously more desired tourist destinations, both of which received nearly 10 percent more visitors.

* stand out 意为“表现突出”。

* shoot up 意为“猛涨”。

* 老章提醒注意:状语的多种形式:1)状语从句,即本段中的“as its popularity shot up by more than 10 percent”、2)动词分词短语作为状语,即本段中的“Following Germany closely”。

* 段落中的三处非限定性定语从句用了三种不同的引导词:1)where、2)whose、3)which。

The growth was moderate in Spain, as the country’s reception of visitors rose by 6 percent. Meanwhile, it is notable that there was a minor increase of 1 percent in Turkey and a slightly bigger increase (2 percent) in Italy.

* 措辞时尤其注意表示程度的形容词/副词,和已经带有程度概念的名词或动词,以及句型的(刻意)变化。

 

# Conclusion

Overall, the changed popularity varied from country to country.

* 老章提醒:vary(意为“有区别”)这个不及物动词的用法值得注意。比如句中的意思是“变化的受欢迎程度在国家与国家之间有区别”。举例:The choice of color varies from person to person. 意思是“对于颜色的选择在人与人之间有区别”。

* 笼统总结。尤其适合的情况:数据之间关系的规律不是那么明显,又不能去重复主体部分已经说过的内容。
