今天要分享的是在雅思口语中，超级常用的happy这个词的同义替换。这大概是很多同学学会的第 一个用来表达情感的英文单词。于是乎，以后人生的诸多场合，但凡需要表达积极情感的时候，发现一张口，都是happy——

I'm so happy. 
       I mean ... I'm really, really happy. 
       This makes me so happy. 
       Are you happy?
       Ya, I'm happy!

不知道你发现没有，快乐和高兴其实是非常笼统和概括的词。

深挖一下高兴背后的含义，你就可以轻松地多掌握一些不同的表达，并且在你的英文表述中，听起来更准确一些。

比如说，

学校的考试，成绩不错。这个时候，你说的"高兴"，就是"happy"。

第 一次出国旅行。面对新鲜的、未知的人、事、物。这个时候，你说的"高兴"，是"excited"。

英语水平一般，考前也没准备过雅思，竟然一次达标。那么你的"高兴"，是"surprised"。

在你迷茫/困惑的时候，找到了一本书，书的腰封上写着"大学毕业后遇到的所有难题，答案都在这里"。这个时候，你的高兴，是"interested"。

你养了一株花，每天施肥浇水。几个月后它开出灿烂的花朵。这个时候，你的高兴，是"satisfied"。

在你较困难的时候，有那么一个人一直帮助你、支持你、倾听你。如今走过那一段困难时光，回头望，你感到的高兴，其实是，"emotional"。You're emotionally affected. 

赶完各种due之后，和好友一起在公寓里，躺在沙发上，喝两杯酒，看电视，聊聊天，这种"高兴"，是"relaxed"。

以下的同替词汇，快乐程度由低到高。

1.glad - 为某一个特定的事情感到高兴。

去超市结账，发现有一列没排队。听到朋友被录取的好消息。喜欢的足球队，赢了比赛。

I was so glad to hear that she got the offer from her dream school.

I was so glad to see that there was only 

2. pleased - 快乐且满足

考试成绩不错，某个问题的解决方案

I was quite pleased with the traveling plan we made together. 

I was really pleased with my exam results last semester. 

Our leader was really pleased with our work this year.

3. cheerful - 这种快乐非常明显，一个cheerful的人，它走路的方式、说话的方式、脸上的表情里都透露着快乐。

She sounded very cheerful when she told me that she got an offer from her dream school. 

She's an extraodinary woman who has unfailing cheerfulness. 

（PS, 这个词也可以用来形容事物 - sth that is cheerful is pleasant and makes you feel happy. 比如，My cousin's room is bright and cheerful, with plenty of toys.）

4. exuberant (ɪgzjuːbərənt) - 和cheerful的表现形式相似，但比cheerful 更强烈的快乐。充满活力、令人兴奋。

My mom is an exuberant woman who's always full of energy and cheerfulness. 

His exuberant personality makes him popular among all of us. 

She's young and exuberant. 青春年少，意气风发。

（PS, 这个词可以形容人，也可以形容人的行为;精力充沛、热情洋溢、兴高采烈）

5. elated - 极度开心（extremely happy），兴高采烈。往往是由于某事发生了，或是得到了 / 实现了某事。比如得到了心仪已久的学校/公司的offer。

I was elated by the news that I had won a full scholarship. 

In that picture, my friend was looking at his fiance with a wildly elated face. 

Elated by the news of getting an offer from my dream school, I began to prepare for my life abroad. 

6. overjoyed - 超级开心，欣喜若狂。比如买彩票中1000。

My little niece seemed overjoyed after knowing that I was going to visit him. 

They were overjoyed to learn that their son had not been injured in the accident.

7. euphoric - 极度开心+亢奋。比如彩票中1000,000。

a euphoric mood

If I had the chance to meet my idol in person, I would be euphoric. 

加分idioms——

1）On cloud nine - very happy

The day when my daughter was born, I was on cloud nine. 

（记得一个学生在聊《改变人生的时光》这个话题时，提到女儿的出生，给他带来了非常大的喜悦。这个时候，on cloud nine; overjoyed; euphoric 都会是比happy更合适的选择）

2）On top of the world - feel extremely happy and healthy 

The day our team finished the tough project and won the first prize, I was on top of the world. 

（一个学生在聊《完成困难任务并为之感到自豪》时，用到的表达）

3）In high spirits 

I got to know her from an interview and I was quite impressed by her response to the reporter. 

She was asked how she felt after failing to get the first prize. 

And her answer was - she felt elated as she won the second prize. And she said that in really high spirits and in a really genuine way. 

You know, that kind of positive response was quite special among Chinese athletes who would usually be really frustrated when not winning the gold medal. In fact, a lot of them would even apologize for not being good enough.

4）As happy as Larry = extremely happy

When my little cousin won a candy for winning the running race, she's as happy as Larry.

在词汇上想冲一冲的同学，my sincere advice - check these expressions on both positive and negative feelings, 因为不管在哪一part，它们都是避无可避的表达。
